Trio of Accolades for Team 2286

It's been a great Volunteer Week for 2286 (Coventry Arden) Squadron, as Deputy OC Wing dropped by the Squadron to present certificates of commendation to Squadron senior staff.

The Commandant's Certificate of Meritorious Service was awarded to Officer Commanding Flight Lieutenant Julie Seymour RAFAC by Squadron Leader Robert Foster RAFAC, Deputy Wing Commander Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing. Julie has commanded the Squadron for over ten years, having taken over on January 1st 2012, and has led the Squadron through success and challenge to the Squadron we are today with quiet calm and leadership. She is also the Wing Radio Officer, having long been passionate about developing radio training for the wide range of cadets under her care.

The Regional Commandant's Certificate of Meritorious Service was also awarded by Squadron Leader Foster to Adjutant Flying Officer Amy Seymour and Training Officer Flight Sergeant Ellen Seymour, both mainstays of the Squadron senior staff team. Both Amy and Ellen have been with the Squadron a number of years, following successful cadet and civilian instructor periods on a wide range of Squadron, and bring depth, experience and passion to their roles. They were particularly instrumental in developing many of the strategies in use in the Squadron today, including the review group, and were vital in keeping the Squadron online parades going through the challenging Covid period.

Whilst it's worth it to watch cadets develop to their full potential, being staff isn't always easy - and it certainly isn't easy running the Squadron! So it's great to see staff being acknowledged for the hard work and dedication they put in - and very exciting when such prestigious awards are bestowed. It is particularly unusual for a family group to be recognised in this way, and so we look forward to more commendations for our Squadron family in future! It is a team effort though - so the Officer Commanding would like to thank all the staff and Squadron community for the hard work and dedication they put in to support the Squadron this Volunteer Week.
