Today, cadets and staff from 2286 (Coventry Arden) Squadron RAF Air Cadets joined one of the most significant events in our city’s calendar – the Coventry Remembrance Parade. Known as one of the largest parades in the Midlands, it was both an honor and a privilege for our Squadron to stand alongside fellow cadets, veterans, and the community to pay our respects.
Marching off from Spencer Avenue at 10:30, the parade was led by Sgt Kynan French as he proudly escorted the Union Flag, carried by the Royal British Legion banner bearer and joined by a cadet from another Squadron. Right behind them came a parade of banners, including 2286’s, carried with pride by CWO Thomas O'Connell.
Our main contingent marched as a flight within the RAFAC Wing group, with Fg Off Amy Seymour at the helm, joined by Fg Off Subhaan Sheikh and CWO Matthew Smith. Each cadet looked sharp and carried themselves with the respect and reverence the day deserved. At the cenotaph, Cdt Breesha Corkish, our current Endeavour Cup winner, laid the Squadron’s wreath – an honor that reflects not only her dedication but also that of every cadet on parade today.
Wing Commander Hobbins, Officer Commanding Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing, shared her pride in today’s turnout: “It was wonderful to see so many cadets on parade – the most I can remember seeing in recent years. Everyone looked so smart, and I felt incredibly proud of the dedication shown by each and every cadet.”
Flt Lt Julie Seymour, our Squadron OC, had heartfelt praise for the entire 2286 team: “Today was a real team effort. From our staff and NCOs to the support of families and parents, everyone played a role in making this parade happen. I’m so proud of each cadet for representing Coventry with such commitment and respect.”
The Coventry Remembrance Parade holds a special place in our city’s heart, bringing together people from all walks of life to honor those who have served. Our cadets understand the weight of this day and wear their uniforms with pride, knowing they are part of something much bigger than themselves.
