Cadets from 1368 and 2286 Squadron recently took part in a joint Bronze Leadership Course, designed to develop their ability to plan, communicate, and lead under pressure. This task-focused course pushed them to step out of their comfort zones and take command of unfamiliar teams, testing their leadership skills in practical scenarios.
With a strong track record in leadership, 2286 Squadron was proud to help deliver this training. Having won the Wing Leadership Competition last year and represented Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing at the Wales & West RAFAC Leadership Championship 2023, leadership development is at the heart of what we do.

Over the course of the training, cadets explored key leadership principles, learning to make quick, effective decisions while managing a team. The interactive tasks encouraged them to adapt to new challenges, communicate under pressure, and develop confidence in their abilities. While there was a lot to take in, all 11 cadets successfully passed, demonstrating outstanding teamwork and resilience.
Fg Off Sheikh, the lead instructor, said: "Leadership training is always a highlight for cadets. They love the challenge, the teamwork, and the sense of accomplishment when they see their own skills develop. It was brilliant to see them rise to the occasion, and we couldn’t have done it without the fantastic support from our CWOs!"
A huge thank you to the CWOs from both Squadrons, who played a key role in delivering the course. Their experience and mentorship helped bring the training to life, making it an engaging and rewarding experience for all involved. Check out the gallery below!
The Bronze Leadership Course is just the first step in RAFAC leadership development, with Silver courses already available and Gold courses expected from this summer for those who want to push themselves even further. With leadership being a key part of cadet life at 2286, we look forward to seeing these cadets take on new challenges in the future!
