2286 Squadron Represents Wing at Wales & West Leadership Championships

This Sunday, 2286 (Coventry Arden) Squadron had the honour of representing Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing at the Wales and West Regional Leadership Championships. Competing at the highest level currently available in the RAF Air Cadets, our team showcased their leadership skills, teamwork, and determination.

The team—CWO Thomas O'Connell (Team IC), Sgt Cerys Ryan, Cpl Dawson Myles, Cpl Zachary Van Ristell Hall, and Cpl Kisara Peramunugamage—undertook a challenging task-focused leadership exercise inspired by those used in RAF recruitment. The exercise tested their ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and adapt quickly under pressure.

Having represented the Wing at this competition last year, the team brought forward valuable experience. While their training this year was more focused, building on the solid foundation of last year’s preparations, they still dedicated time to sharpening their skills and ensuring they were ready for the challenge. Their commitment to self-improvement and teamwork was clear throughout the day.

Flying Officer Subhaan Sheikh, a former CWO and now senior Squadron staff at 2286 Squadron, shared his thoughts on the team’s efforts:

“It’s been inspiring to watch this group of cadets push themselves and represent our Wing with such professionalism. They’ve shown resilience, adaptability, and the values we aim to instill in all our cadets. We’re incredibly proud of them.”

Representing the Wing at such a high level is an incredible achievement, and the team’s efforts reflect the strong leadership and camaraderie within 2286 Squadron. Their hard work and dedication set a fantastic example for all our cadets.

Congratulations to the team—you’ve done us proud!
